Are these averages? Does it depend on how much you contributed? These numbers look slightly better than what German pensioners are getting ( on average) as public pensions.

I think that's a full pension, which you get if you have made NI contributions all your life. I think the exact figure is 45 years though I could be wrong.

For us unfortunate older people who received our pension before April 2016 our basic state pension per week is £169.50 rising to £176.45 in April 2025.

When we reach 80 we get an increase of £0.25 per week!!

35 Years to get the full UK state pension.
A minimum of 10 years NI contributions in order to qualify for the minimum payment.
10 - 35 Years gives a pro rata payment depending on the number of full years NI contributions have been made.
That's how it worked when I made my claim.

The amount of National Insurance you pay depends on your employment status and how much you earn.

Kemi Badenoch has said the Conservatives will consider means-testing the pensions triple lock.

The Tory leader said her party would "look at means-testing" the system which guarantees that the state pension rises in line with average earnings, inflation or 2.5% - whichever is highest.

And this is where it all falls apart - If you have paid into one or two private schemes over the years to give yourself something to live on in retirement alongside your well paid for state pension due to National Insurance contributions - Then your state pension could be reduced or taken away altogether -
But if you have paid into no private schemes at all You will get your state pension based on your years of NI contributions which could be topped up with pension credit if you don't have enough years and able to apply for every benefit going - So the question is have you been taken for a MUG all these years -

These Government ministers and and local councillors are all on good salaries to start with and they all have government pensions which are also very good so they know they will be alright in retirement and don't seem to care about the ordinary working people - A case of I'm alright Jack

The question then would be, is it lawful to stop/reduce a state pension by means testing.

If you have paid in, you are rightfully collecting your pension. I cannot accept that any alteration in the sum you receive, i.e. resulting in your getting a lesser sum, would stand up in a court of law. It has already been done in an underhand way, by altering the retirement age. Just ask the WASPI women, oh yes, who Labour were going to support.

I was at my local WASPI Group meeting in Cleveleys in August 2017.

We asked Jeremy Corbyn to come and see us, whilst he was at the conference a few miles down the road in Blackpool.

And what did the WASPI Women do when it came to the election? They turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to those promises and voted for the Conservatives (mainly due to the bad press being spread about JC). Did I do that?
No, I bloody well didn't - so I'm quite happy to point the finger when those ladies in our group complain that nobody took any notice.

The Conservatives were never going to pay out any money, they chose to totally ignore the ruling that the situation by the DWP was handled appallingly, continued to spend money left right and centre on bad decisions, meanwhile paying backhanders to their cronies and sponsors during the Covid pandemic.

And people wonder why the UK is in a total financial shit tip

And that is relevant to the current Labour Governments stance, how exactly?
