No ticket was obtained, so an automatic fine was generated. BUT.. There were no vacant parking places , hence the driver not paying for a ticket >
Hopefully these 'Smart' car parks will know all this ..

I also wonder how they send a fine. My driving license has my name and Polemi on it .. But they will find a way ;)
Same thing happened to me in a London Hospital carpark, I took my late mum for a bloodtest 8am in the morning, we entered the carpark, and no places left, so I dropped my mum at the entrance and started doing loops of the car park, along with others trying to find a spot, after twenty minutes I kid you not, of going round, mum came out got in the car and drove off, only when I got home i relised my rental car would be on their ANPR cameras , entering the carpark, and leaving after 20 minutes with out me purchasing a ticket, my wife then spent the best part of the morning phoning/waiting/being transfered to one place to another, before speaking to someone who told her, we would of been issued a fine, I think it was about 80quid, had we not spoken to them,

With the "old system" there were no such problems when you are in a "pay and display" carpark. Give me cash every tine! Especially here in Paphos with a ticket costing €1 gives parking for 4 hours!

Isnt it ironic, that people are always whinging about, how Cyprus is still in the dark ages, should come into the modern world, backward etc etc etc, yet when they do progress, as with this parking palava, the same people, start crying, they dont want change, they want the old Cyprus, only one euro parking :?

Someone has to pay for all this 'Smart Stuff' .. I think you may find that 1 euro for 4 hours will be a thing of the past..

I think that the money for all the Mayors new schemes for upgrading Paphos to become a "smart city" comes mainly from EU grants....
I think that the huge amounts of money which has and is still being spent to fund these enhancements couldn't be afforded by the Cy Govt or Paphos town funds without the EU
What do you think?
