Something to be proud of - and I suspect it's mainly a voluntary code of practice, rather than being simply obliged to obey UK/EU laws. By and large, UK farmers care about their animals, rather than merely regarding them as money-producers. That's what I've deduced from the dozen farmers I've met.

Presumably the hens that lay the eggs you buy are not raised in battery cages.........

There are some supermarkets/butchers (e.g. Garden of Eden, Kolios etc.) that sell excellent eggs from free-range hens, and also sell free-range chickens.

The specialist "chicken shops" that I've been in around Paphos sell dubious-looking anaemic chickens. No indications as to how the animal was reared. Not for me.

That may be so but the questions is what they regard free-range. It could be that the hens are able to roam freely for only 30 min/day or have no bushes/trees for cover so that they´re too scared to roam around (as they instictlvely want to be able to hide from e. g. birds of prey).

Sorry, not a language that I understand, so I only scanned through it, but, as an experienced stockman, all the cows I saw looked comfortable and happy.

Ive been here thirty years and I havent seen one Bird of Prey, so I think thats a weak argument

Are you sure chicken don´t have that instinct because you haven´t seen a bird of prey? One of my daughter´s pet rabbits was killed by a bird of prey - granted, that was in Germany though.

Where have I done that? I´m just trying to raise awareness that not all free-range eggs are created equal.

There was one photo of a cow in a foot trimming crate (I can explain fully if required) and two photos that wouldn't load, but apart from that, a few photos of cows at a show and some of models
Did I miss something?
