The MEU 3 is proof that you´ve legally resided in Cyprus for at least 5 years. As I found out from a lecture of Prof. Sinn, a leading German economist (sorry, link only useful if you have command of German: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12SMqsQiLD4) after 5 years of residency you (as an EU citizen) have the right to access the social security system of your guest country (including non-contribution based benefits) like a citizen. Depending on your guest country and your circumstances that may or may not make a huge difference (or none at all). In Cyprus one thing that comes to my mind is state funded caregiving. You´ll only have a claim after 5 years of legal residency. That doesn´t mean you need it in order to have the right to reside in Cyprus.Hudswell wrote: ↑Wed Oct 17, 2018 9:52 pm Dee, what problem? It is perfectly clear from the BHC and Cypriot documentation that the MEU 1 is a acceptable as the MEU 3 for continued residency after BREXIT. If there is a no deal BREXIT then who knows, I personally believe the Cypriot Government will ensure our continued residency.
