100% agree. This thread has encouraged me to add "open new current account with new bank" to my pre-move checklist.

Very sage advice. As others have said, aside from BoC it's almost impossible to create a new bank account or open a new credit card facility in the UK after you have left. Also difficult to get credit cards with sizeable limits in Cyprus these days. You can almost never have too many Plan 'B's. We still have a huge O/D facility with First Direct in the UK - a carryover from when we lived there. Comes in useful at times.

Sage advice! Makes a change form being pilloried as an evil banker!! I have my moments! 30years in the bank and a wide who’s headed credit data analytics for 2 major financial institutions helps.
