Brilliant as always Max - thank you.

I hope you are feeling better - I most certainly am just a little wobbly on the feet (and not from whisky :D :D :D )

I do not like this comment at all.

Shame on you for suggesting such a thing, Lincoln! As Max states, the time interval between his two shots was 42 minutes. The Moon is racing 'backwards' eastwards in the sky once every 28 days. So even during this short time period, you can already see it waning slightly in the upper right section of his photo #2, when carefully compared.

The decent thing to do, IMHO, would be to retract your allegation and apologize to Max, m8!

Humble apologies, I had forgotten to read page #2 of the thread before commenting.

But once again, BRAVO Max for two beautiful Lunar photos! The next lunar 'event' occurs over the weekend of 24/25th Feb, when the New Moon of 15th Feb will be 10/11 days 'old'.

See if you can grab the awesome 'Jewelled Handle' effect upper left of its disc on your photo late at night. Patrick Moore complimented me on the shot I took that I sent him back in the 80s, as it turned out better than the one he had used in his earlier Moon Phases book, LOL!

So, one day later the sky is more clear than yesterday, hence the pic of the Moon tonight is less blurred.... ha ha

This photo claims to be a time lapse shot over Perth .

Claims is the right word, Mrblobby. The static shot of Perth WA harbour front might be real, but the 'moons' have been added afterwards onto a convenient inky black night sky with photoshop or similar, IMHO...

These are NOT lunar eclipse shots taken from Australia. Why? Well, the moon is the correct way 'up' as viewed from the Northern Hemisphere (the man in the moon). Down in OZ, a full moon appears 'upside down'.

These pixs were taken in USA I think. But the so-called 'time lapse' shots just don't look correct to me. Top left (let's call it #1) is Full Moon just about to go into full eclipse, passing out of Earth's penumbra into total umbra shadow from the Sun.

Next five shots are of it gradually coming out of full eclipse (umbra), back into the penumbra. Then what do we have in shot #7 ??? A full eclipse, which should have been shot #2 !!!

No, this is a totally faked sequence and overall photo. I don't believe it for one second...

This would suggest you are wrong Al. The shots from Perth all have the moon's dark splodge's in the same orientation as the time lapse above. The clip from NASA in the US has them the other way up.
