Just to clarify that I believe Amos that you have been given the wrong information. It is definitely online only from 2017 returns onwards. If you follow the link below and wait for the pop-up, you will see the statement direct from the tax office on their website. My accountant has advised that you should register sooner rather than later as in a few months time there will be tens of thousands trying to do so. However, as Aphrodite first posted, there are some problems at the moment doing so. Good luck peeps!

Which is what I already stated, either in this thread, or a parallel one on PL. How can any government be so naiive to assume that all their taxpayers are equipped with computers or devices that are connected to the internet?

There is no law that says they have to be, so this edict is total madness!

AL

Thank you.
Well I did register last year and was given my TIC Number.
I note all that has been said about this, but I will just wait and see what transpires.
Amos.

I think that most people will be registered with the tax people. But can you imagine how the 80 yr old Cypriot couple are going to sort their tax out online... No computer... No printer ????

Thank you. And how are you supposed to submit it on line when they insist it be signed? Scan it in and send as an attachment?
I can see why they might want you to print off the form, fill it in, sign it, and either take it to the Tax Office or Post it to them - saves them the staff time and postage etc.
I await developments - I am fairly sure there will be some.
Amos.

The only thing that needs to be signed is the form for joining taxisnet .

Your actual tax return is done online , no signing no printing off .

I was at the Tax Office just over a week ago and the lady who deals with my income tax queries, told me that for 2017 the only method would be on-line for the 2017 tax return.

I would have thought they would be sending out the "temporary tax" returns for 2018 by now, or putting them on their website.
My UK Expat neighbour has been here 8 years and has filed his income tax returns every year in January.
So far they are 5 years behind assessing him.
No wonder Cyprus had to have a bailout; added to the transfer fees fiasco they must be billions behind.
Amos.

Wanting to register for on-line submission of my Tax return I went to the appropriate web page and downloaded the on-line form.

Part of the form is under the heading
"Enter the following data from any one of the Notices of Assessment of Income Tax you have received:"

I have never received one and it appears that the Income Tax office is 5 years behind in issuing assessments......so what next?

When I registered a few years ago the form IR66 was much simpler .

I have just looked online under Returns-employees. The only form available is the temporary tax form for 2017, which we have already filed and paid. So, as far as I can ascertain, nothing more to do until April!
