I had a wander with my camera today and will post a blog once I have processed the pictures. There was also an art exhibition on site which was a nice addition. You can walk around most of Fabrica Hill, which is the name of the area, though as Dee says there are bits that are fenced off. Worth a look if you are in the area.

How about this? It will however need a man with a red flag to walk in front! No doubt the taxi drivers will stage a protest as per usual.

That would be a great idea Mike, but from a Health & Safety perspective it'll never happen
Sorry Lloyd, I don't understand. Is "Elf & Safety" something we should know about here?

There didn't seem to be much concern for 'elf and safety' while all the recent works were being carried out in the old town! At one point entering Makarios Ave was was a very dangerous thing to do! Most workmen don't wear any safety gear no matter what job they are doing when working on construction sites...
It will be interesting to see how this walkway is completed... especially as much of it is in a very public area.

Takes me back to when Bar St was being dug up for the new sewers, prior to being pedestrianised. Peeps were wobbling out of the bars at 2am, lashed out of their brains, and tumbling into 10 foot deep trenches right outside!

I said a few weeks ago on another thread it was a roller coaster and Dom also said this. It will never be a walkway. It will not be a roller coaster but the holding tracks suggest a train type carrier above. Round pipe below and tracks above will always point to a carrier of some sort

Lloyd, parents MUST wear seatbelts, but small children will be permitted to stand up between the parents.

That's fantastic Max.....
I shall be looking to do a little research later. Still looking for somewhere different to go for my 60th birthday next year.
Trains of the Pyrenees caught my attention, Norwegian fjords, a Moroccan riad or the French and Italian border areas. Too many places but we're keeping our options open until the last minute this time rather than booking in advance.
Somewhere different is where we are going early next year.
It's worth checking out the info and vids of Antelope Park.
It would be a birthday to certainly remember.

Strangely enough MM, although I'm very passionate about animals I've never wanted to do an African safari.
Different, granted but not really up my street.
However, I hope you have a wonderful time!
My plan is to go storm chasing down Tornado Alley but my official retirement is still almost 7yrs away and that's when I promised myself the trip..... but you never know, I may be able to twist my other half's arm up his back a little

Just been looking at the Paphos Town CTO map. Am I right in thinking that in order to create a walkway link bridge from the Fabrica Hill site over to the main Archaeological (Lighthouse area) site, they'll have to bridge TWO roads?
First, the main road up from Paphos harbour. Then the smaller road that branches off that to the rear of the Roman hotel (where angels fear to tread...)

The similarities are there for all to see. I'm first in line if it's like that.

Have tried, and failed to find any links to how the completed project will look?
Can anyone help.....please!
Me too. Tried all over with Mr Google. It seems to be a common theme here that it's difficult to get info on proposed or ongoing projects. There's usually something in the press a long while before works start but then nothing and we all start wondering. There was one artists impression of Kennedy Sq when it was announced and that's about all. Tala did a good job for the updates to the square though. Surprising when so many people are doing media studies / marketing courses these days.
Looking forward to when this opens though, should be good.

I am looking forward to seeing what it is like when it is finished. But I can't help wondering how much of the actual archaeological sites will be visible from the walkway. .. Looking at it the other day when driving past, it looks quite light weight in construction. Would it be up to the weight of any type of automated visitor transport? Riding a segway along there seems a bit scary as it looks narrow and is relatively high off the ground.

Traffic chaos today as the main road to Kato Paphos from the mall is closed.
The walkway link across the main road is being completed, with a large crane in situ, and I have to say looks most impressive.
Apologies, no pic, but I hope someone will post one.

Usually closures are in the paper and get repeated on here. But I have not seen anything.
