The thing is, I don't want it to become a replacement for General Discussions. So it has to be a name that is a bit different, which is where "Chit Chat" and "Chew the fat" fall down a bit.

"Blue Sky Thinking" - has the right intent, but sounds far too poncy.
"Brainstorming", "Thinktank" - a bit too pompous.
"Random Blather" - not the catchiest name but sums up what it will be.

Coffee and cake or maybe Tea and biscuits?

"Thrashing it Out" - as that's what you have been doing.

"Tea and biscuits" I like. "Coffee and cake" would just result in lots of people talking about cake. They would even post pictures.

But "Tea and biscuits", that is the front runner so far. Thanks.

Yes, "Thrashing it out" has a good ring to it. Also it isn't anything a newcomer would mistake for general chat.

Anyway, Al will be back later today, and we will all be able to see how it goes.

I started this post out of concern for the absence of Paphos AL not knowing what has taken place, and I have to admit that yes AL was slightly over posting and his knowledge was a little outdated and it would be if his last visit was 2008 - But his recollection, experience and enthusiasm for the Paphos area is vast and amazing albeit outdated – I think the action taken against AL is extreme and a simple PM chat should have been enough to sort this – Who am I to know maybe a PM chat took place and did not sort this. However it is Dom’s forum and he will run it as he sees fit, I think a lot of people on here need to take stock and try standing in someone else’s shoes, This forum is obviously a very big part of AL’s life as it is to many others on here and tolerance of others views and opinions is paramount even if you do not agree with them and giving them a good savaging at every opportunity does not make you the better person. Moderating this forum and trying to keep everyone happy is impossible but I do not agree with the way this matter has been handled and laundered in public and hopefully all concerned will be more considerate in the future as AL is no different to anyone else on here – He has views opinions and feelings also distant memories.

The "vocal minority" was a lot smaller than the non-vocal minority who sent me PMs saying the same.

The simple fact is this: there was a real issue which has now been dealt with. The solution needs to be given a chance, because the status quo just wasn't an option. A lot of people were ok with it but a lot of people weren't.

Dom That is freedom of speech which everyone is entitled to and the vocals get my vote every time but the back stabbing squealers do not – Stand up and be counted if you have something to say about someone have the balls to make yourself known instead of hiding behind emails – The real issue was a 70 year old man with a passion for the island trying to pass on his life experience ( may be outdated ) to others and did not realise he was a little over the top with his postings and how much change has taken place obviously so he has to be publicly flogged – Then everyone will be happy ?
