RIP Brian, “Devil”
Loved reading his stories on the forum, and daily contribution on Wordle thread. I only mentioned mid May he had appeared to stop posting. RIP.

Oh dear, that is sad news. Thanks Steve for doing the detective work. Just a shame it had to have such a sad outcome. Still, he got to tell his story before he passed. He contacted me in March asking for permission to republish it on a new blog he was starting. I of course said yes, but unfortunately cannot see any sign of it online.
It would be a shame to see it fade away. Perhaps I should create a Memorium sub-forum? That way we could move significant threads from past members there so that they would be easy to find in future? Would that be useful?

Great Idea – You could also add some of Paphos AL’s ramblings of his love of the island if there is an archive of his postings and use both members avatars as a memorial - if this is still possible to do after all this time – then they are never forgotten.

I didn't realise how old Devil actually was.
I knew he was at least in his 70's+.
I have just read his second post on the forum. : -
viewtopic.php?p=80#p80
Devil states he is 84 at time of posting, which is 8 years ago, so he must have been 92 years old.
RIP Devil

Oh what sad news, I always enjoyed his posts, he'll be missed for sure.
At least he shared his Troodos story before we lost him, which as well as being entertaining is a great historical snapshot. I still have his last posts to read as I've been slowly dipping into it, so I look forward to that.
Thanks for creating the new page Dominic, it was a lovely idea.

You may remember that Devil shared a few of his videos over the years - here's one of his first videos from 16+ years ago
I thought this one was fitting, given that it was a place both Brian and Margaret loved, and chose to call home.

You can find more of his videos

RIP Devil. I always read his posts, but, like many, did not understand the science behind some of them. A very clever man who will be missed both here and on Steve's Eastern Forum. Thanks Steve for posting the video and links.
Dominic, perhaps some of Devils posts from Cyprus Living and the Eastern forum could be posted on the Memorial pages.
Devil will be missed by many.

I was so very sad to read this news.
I was lucky enough to have met Brian, his wife Margaret and their adorable dog Beardie in Mosfiloti a good few years ago now. I remember being served a lovely cup of tea (loose tea of course

) in a China cup and saucer. They were charming people.
I will SO miss his posts.

Such sad news - Devil was an absolute stalwart of both CL and Paphoslife and I am sure had the respect of all.
No one could ever doubt his love of Cyprus together with his encyclopaedic knowledge and stories of a life well lived.
A sad and irreplaceable loss indeed.
Hopefully this, and similar messages will be of some comfort to his family and friends.

Devil's (Brian) daughter - Catrina - says that she is not very good with computers and was struggling to get on. I have shared a direct link to this thread a different way so she will be able to read all the lovely comments.
She may well sign up and respond as I know she has been touched by the response.
Cheers
Steve
