My wife cuts my hair anyway.
The problem is that a lot of the 'others' don't seem to be looking after theirs, hence the increased number of infections.

That's a hidden talent I didn't know about.

I remember once getting a Grade 1 at a real spit and sawdust barber's in London. The barber was an ex-Boxer, and you could tell, both by the state of his nose and by the pictures dotted around the place. He had shaved my head then pulled out a hair drier. I asked him if he was taking the piss, but he laughingly explained it was to blow the hair away.

Nice chap, and it cost £3. That was mid 90s.

I'm sorry, but your crusade does not make sense. You know as well as I do that statistics always have a plus or minus (±) around them. This makes it entirely possible for the pluses to become minuses and vice versa. This means that when you pretend that the death rate is dropping, it may actually be raising at that moment. This happens in trumps when the death rate is numerically low, as is the case here. Your battlecry of "to hell with the government policy" makes no sense whatsoever. Without these restrictions, we would be getting the death rates of something like 10 a day and most of these deaths would be of people who are trying desperately to keep the economy moving by using their acquired knowledge from years of study, rather than reading stupid articles out of the mass media (you can always find something to fit your argument). If these guys kick the bucket, you can say goodbye to the country's economy; there is no one else to take their place, is there? In other words, you may pontificate to your heart's content but that does not mean necessarily that you are right. In my opinion, you are the voice crying from the wilderness and everyone else is wrong – a little subtlety in your diatribes might make you a bit more convincing.

Yes, I agree with HIC in some of his 'diatribe', but the answer isn't to drop the health measures before the rate of infection goes down again, well below, instead of above the present level which is mainly above the R of 1. Anyone who has watched English tv channels news should remember that R is the rate at which infection rates will multiply.

If, everyone observes the new lockdown measures starting tomorrow,, this should help. Though there is doubt that 2 weeks will be long enough. Especially since the 'Govt has decreed that there will be some relaxations over Easter for next Saturday night and Sunday.

Like HIC I am heartily sick of anti Covid health measures which some people just don't respect. But what is the alternative to the present situation?
I will look forward to June or whenever Cyprus is nearly Covid free again.

PS. The rot set in after the 'Carnival' parties in Limassol some weeks ago. Maybe Limassol should have had its own lock down then?

Yes, Cyprus is gradually vaccinating some of its people, as vaccine supplies will allow. But everyone who wants vaccination whats Pfizer, and possibly Moderna and there just isn't enough yet. Many people are now so concerned about the small threat of blood clots from use of the Astro Zenica vaccine, that they don't want it. And J&J's new vaccine has apparently although very recently approved by the EU, also produced the same problem.
Then according to the papers about 25% of Cypriots have stated that they don't want to be vaccinated at all! Others may decide later this year or perhaps next..
So, one hopes that the recent announcement that personal doctors can vaccinate with AZ, their own patients, may help to persuade some people who are unsure to have it.

Re Men's Hairdressers. Mine informed me a few weeks back that they (Hairdressers) were allowed on customer in the chair and one other waiting inside the building.. If any others wanted to wait they had to be outside..
The hairdresser I use has a booking system via the phone.. You call him and he gives you a mutually agreed time and date. This is confirmed via and SMS....
I thought this was a rule for all but I admit I don't know about that. It seems a good system to me though

So, this is what I've taken from the Barbershop Saga....
Maybe lockdowns shouldn't be announced so far in advance if people cannot be trusted to behave responsibly?

Our hairdressers/barbers opened up again on 12 April. We have one barbers in our village with 2 lady cutters. The people were queuing in the street and around the corner almost to the sea wall.

The hairdresser is appointment only so I won't use them as I hate having to make appointments. Me and my other half go over the river where you just turn up. It's a place where they just do dry cuts for men and women.

We didn't go until the middle of last week. We were the only 2 people waiting and my lady said it was their first "normal" day since they reopened after the UK lockdown rules were partially relaxed.

They got 15 minutes closure notice of the last lockdown.

Spain gave their first lockdown announcement at 2pm on Friday afternoon with everything to close at midnight, other than essential food outlets, pharmacies etc allowed to open on the Saturday morning.

Inconvenient yes, but it stops people being idiots. We just have to learn to keep the cupboards, fridges and freezers well stocked with provisions

That might work for some businesses but what about bars, restaurants and tavernas that use fresh produce?

My experience of lockdowns and the moves to relax them here in Wales are almost farcical. The Government would announce a relaxation on a Friday to come into effect on the following Monday. Of course people being people then just spent the weekend doing as they please.

It wasn't in Fleet street, by any chance, was it, the barber there used to give you a home made pie as well as a shave
