Agreed, WHL, if you look at the Irish history, when it became apparent that Britain could not control things enough, they 'planted' people, initially from England, as landowners and prevented the native population of opening land under 500' and so forced planting crops on difficult land, hence the potatoes famine that killed up to 2 million and dispossessed many others. They then 'planted' the Ulster Scots and created further division, until things broke down even more and the division of the island along religious lines.
