Geoff may I respectfully suggest you go and have a lie down, because clearly you haven't got a scubbydo on how Nuclear weapons/Wars work.
I'll bet I know more than you seem to do.
Geoff.
Well If thats true, why dont you try posting it on here, once in a while, instead of posting your, Incessant drivel
If you genuinely think that somebody is posting incessant drivel then you should block them, by getting acquainted with how your user control panel works.

Why don't you stop being offensive? If any of my posts are drivel why don't you prove that if you are so clever?
Geoff.

Sorry Dominic, I went a bit over the top, but when someone calls for Nuclear Weapons to be used on a nation, with out thinking it thru, it gets the old blood pressure up a tad.

Reply to WHL:
Well both the USA and N.Korea have been posturing and threatening to resort to nuclear warfare.
My comment was that if USA want to go down that road maybe they would use a small battlefield nuclear device, 2 Kilo-ton sort of range.
Or they could drop one of their MOABs, use tomahawks again, whatever: they have numerous options available.
Trump said that N.Korea would be dealt with - I believe him and hope he gets on with the job ASAP.
Geoff.

Trump threatened a pre-emptive strike against N.Korea and whereas did not specify what form this might take did say that all options are open.
One option is of course a nuclear attack, and he has the fleet now offshore from the Korean peninsular with such capability on-board.
Or he might use a MOAB (as in Afghanistan) or. Tomahawk cruise missiles (as in Syria).
A useful link is:
www.commondreams.org/news/2017/05/14/no ... warns-then
Click on "war and peace" and scroll down to read the article about thermonuclear war etc.
As I said in an earlier post whatever does happen affects us all, even in Cyprus, not least because of the economic fallout of it all.
It will be interesting to say the least!
Geoff.

Do you really think that commondreams is an apolitical website without vested interests? I'd rather read the defunct Daily Worker to get near the truth.

There is absolutely no way that Donald Trump would initiate a nuclear strike against North Korea. Why on earth would he want to do that? To simply answer the question of the thread - he would not be justified in a nuclear strike, which would rightly bring the condemnation of the whole world, including his own people.
Kim Jong Un is unbalanced, not least of which because of his equally unbalanced father and grandfather. Between the three of them, their quest for nuclear weapons over the last 50 years, and their constant threats to use them proves that the world is right to try to prevent despotic states from developing such weapons. Unfortunately, nothing thus far has worked to deter them - including both sanctions and the almost unbelievable 'carrot' of the USA (under Clinton) assisting the North Korean nuclear programme 'for energy purposes' only!
Kim Jong Un really must be stopped - but by conventional force - not doing exactly what we fear he is willing to do unilaterally - use nuclear weapons against another country in a pre-emptive strike.
His neighbours - China and Russia are doing nothing, but equally have nothing to fear as they are both able to obliterate North Korea at a stroke. They are probably also quite happy to see the rhetoric being used against the USA. It is Japan and South Korea which are already in the firing line, and if North Korea were to develop an ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) capable of delivering a nuclear warhead, then the whole world is in danger. He therefore really must be stopped now. It would not surprise me one bit if Xi Jinping and Trump previously discussed the scenario now playing out in the seas off North Korea.

Watch the BBC report of the military show in the North Korean capital. His eyes are looking everywhere but at the parade. I suspect he is so paranoid that he sees assassins everywhere. Every media report seems to imply N Korea is a communist state. I believe this to be totally untrue. It is a dictatorship run by a deranged individual and I really cannot understand why the CIA or some such have not gone in to remove him with extreme prejudice.
