I don't want to go into lock down again because some irresponsible's come here on holiday and bring the virus in again.
Stay at home!
Hear hear! I am a little worried because a UK family of four (Cypriot wife/mother) have just moved into holiday home next door. They are supposed to be in lockdown for, I think, one week but that does not seem to stop her 46 cousins from visiting her (okay I am exaggerating but I do know that a number of her immediate family have been in contact with them and a bloke comes in every day for maintenance of the pool). I admit that the idea of an active family in quarantine next door to me is not, I hope, on my bucket list.

Bloody hell WHL give it a rest you bad tempered sod, people are only airing their points of view,if they are cleared of virus before they come over then no problem, it's ok for you as your here, but some people have very pressing needs to get to Cyprus,so good luck to them is what I say!
No need to get personal, bad tampered ? not at all,and Im only airing my point of view, just how many non existent flights are people going to book, then come on social media moaning, that the flight was cancelled, heres a thought, why dont you wait until the Government, of what ever country officially announces X Y or Z flights will be allowed, how about taking some of the responsibility for your actions, instead of blaming everyone else?

Iam not blaming anybody but the airlines, they keep showing flights,as of yesterday Jet 2 were still advertising starting to fly again to UK on the 15th July! They cancelled that flight I was booked on last week! Iam going to keep rebooking until I actually get to UK,at least they reimburse your money

Agree,if Jet 2 were not so fair about their ticket policy I would not keep booking for sure! I totally blame the airlines for this fiasco, they should NOT be advertising flights they know full well will not happen and disappointing many people, many genuinely need to travel either here or to UK,

Our flights for April and May were booked about September time last year and the ones for this weekend around about Christmas from memory...we always book on the day of release.
So we certainly haven't booked with fingers crossed - all done well in advance of Covid hence us not blaming the airlines.
The position of the Cypriot government can be argues either way. They have done a great job in controlling the virus (being a smaller island without the in fracture of the UK would have significantly helped) but they surely need to get the economy going again ASAP? A really 'catch 22' situation...

I booked just before Xmas to come out for ten days midway through Febuary just to sort a few things out with the house here and have been stuck here since,I still blame the airlines,I am sure they are kept in the loop re flying more than the general public are by the government,if they had been up front and honest in the beginning instead of offering flights they knew would never happen

Things are strange to understand about flights.. I personally know someone who flew out to Bulgaria from Larnaca on March 11th..
I also know of a couple who lived in Cyprus arrive around three or four weeks ago, and have now flown back to the the UK to live..

I think fights are limited to Cypriot citizens and legal residents at present

My flight to Bristol on 3rd Aug was cancelled today. I am trying to return to UK to check on my flat and other important things. But with the Covid situation I have now had 3 flts cancelled.
I will give up for now and hope that things will get better In due course.
There is no point in booking unless or until the Cyprus Govt announces that the English tourists that Cyprus needs for its own economy, will be welcome and normal flights can resume once again.

A couple of friends flew with Ryanair one from Dublin classed Cat A arrived with flight pass took test and remained at home for 24 hrs till given -ve result. My other friend flew from UK Cat C with Ryanair with flight pass also took test -ve but told to remain in self isolation for 14 days. So there are ways of entering Cyprus if you are prepared to travel to an airport operating Ryanair flights have your MEU and registered and been approved by flight pass remain in isolation for 14 days...

Exactly, are we going to kid ourselves into thinking that when non repatriated flights start to arrive, that people from the UK are going to self isolate when they arrive.
No, except for a few they will be out and about in the supermarkets, DIY shops, restaurants and bars.

Can I ask please if your friends are people who are residents in Cyprus?
And was the test taken on arrival in Cyprus?
Thanks!

I wonder if Cyprus really wants British tourists this year? From what I am hearing from friends in the UK, they see Cyprus's Travel Pass and the strict time frames of having to submit it on line 24 hrs before their flight, together with the difficulty of obtaining a Covid 19 test 72 hrs before the flight departs, plus getting a certificate as too much hassle! Plus the threat of spending some of their holiday in isolation, if they have a Covid test on arrival at the airport.
If you read the on line version of todays Daily Telegraph, Travel Section, you get the picture of the places in Europe which are welcoming Brits and not demanding the extreme arrival procedures of Cyprus. Greece is particularly well reviewed, as being beautiful, welcoming and with many places to choose to spend their holiday. Crete and Santorini were featured among the best islands to visit, plus other less well known islands. Also Croatia.
Will Cyprus hotels end up finding that their British tourists have simply booked to go elsewhere?

Yes it seems as though Cyprus is deliberately trying to put the British off visiting this year. I don't think that I will be able to be tested, and have a certificate within the time frame Cyprus requires.
Myself I won't be visiting another country instead of Cyprus, but I'm sure a lot of other would be visitors, will go elsewhere. Then the problem will be, if they prefer the new venue over Cyprus, they may never return.
I have noticed some ex pats on PL are implying that they would rather the British didn't visit this year, be careful what you wish for.
The irony for me is that Greece will welcome the British, and Cyprus are allowing Greeks in, why, if the Brits could cause a new wave of the virus in Greece, as it seems Cyprus thinks that we will there if they allow us in, then it follows that the Greeks will carry the same risk to Cyprus.
