Thanks for that correction ronk, always get the names muddled! I was referring to Paphos Homemarket in my post.

Quietlife- back to mozzie prevention, the taste/smell of garlic quickly disappears after a mouthful or two of coffee or food. Worth giving them a try to see if they work for you, they are available from the pharmacies. I pay about €15 for 90 capsules, worth every cent to avoid all that itching! Or Boots is much cheaper if you have any UK visitors coming over.

Regarding anti-Mozzie applications, Autan Active is available in most supermarkets. Always worked very well for me.

You just roll it on over exposed ankles, legs, arms, and neck, before you venture out in the evening. Mozzies won't come near you! I believe it's key ingredient is Citronella, which these pesky insects HATE!

AL :)

Jungle Formula is the only repellent that works for me. If it doesn't have DEET I still get bitten. I used to buy Avon sunlotion with repellent in a green bottle but that was many years ago.

Even though I take antihistamine on a daily basis to control allergic rhinitis I still get reactions to mosquito bites and they really flare up and swell horribly.

I still have marks on my leg from a bite which got infected when I came to Ayia Napa in 1989....

I used all sorts of sprays in the past and nothing worked and most have an awful chemical smell. It was while on holiday one year waiting for the tour bus after a day out, the travel rep noticed all the bites on me and told me about garlic tablets, never had a problem since. I used to take them for 2 weeks before hols and during my time away and was hardly ever bitten.

Some reckon just eat lots of garlic in food, but I’m not a great fan of the taste if it’s too strong and it tends to upset my tummy, the tablets don’t have that effect on me. I only use the ones from pharmacies here or Boots in UK, a well known health store which has outlets over here, for some reason really upset my tummy.

Other people swear by vitamin B which might be worth a try, but that didn’t work for me either

The really annoying thing is they never touch my hubby .......
