Trev,
You are making a big assumption that all parts of the Health service are joined up, when it is obvious they are not.

Trev,
This is not something to argue about. Logically you are correct. Practically ......not so sure.

Having said all that and before it seems that when one sets up one's individual applications to be enrolled there is a point when you put in the certificate number of your ARC (MEU! or MEU3) together with your name. So the powers that be in the Health Service are accessing details from the Immigration Service before allowing to proceed with the enrolment procedure. So, taking on board what Trev is posting, why can the Health Service access all information from within their own Service and those of other departments.

You are allowed to register with one doctor only and you can change the doctor after a 6month period if you are not happy or for any other reason. I think you are going to end up in a mess with multiple applications!

It will be interesting to see what happens on opening day on the 3rd of June ;-)

Will the reception windows be closed at the hospital.. ?

Will prescription books not be accepted at the Hospital Pharmacy...?

I assume the 'stamp' window will still be open for blood test forms..

Or will they do what regularly happens with car tax and declare that there will be an extension to the dates..

I agree Trev, it is far from operational and even GPs do not have the answers as yet, or how many Pharmacies are in the system, again doctors do not have the answer either. Looks to be a bit messy come the opening day.

I have a heart scan booked at the general last week in May and hope to pick up three months supply of medication from their pharmacy so hoping everything there is still on the old system until June the first. We will see ??

The last week of May (this month) should be fine..
Both my wife and I have blood tests at the end of the month..
Mine should go to the consultant I am booked in with.. But my wife's would usually go to the 'village Doctor' who has surgeries at different villages on different days..
But that is not the doctor that we have chosen in our Gesy applications... But both applications are still 'pending' ????

The announcement of the delay in starting the system might be good news to some .

“As a result, a transitional period lasting until the end of August was
announced on Monday, extending the operation of existing pharmacies in
hospitals and outpatient clinics. “

There are three main stages of getting onto the GESY healthcare system, hence using the term 'register' can be confusing.

CREATE AN ACCOUNT The first is to register onto the GESY system where you set up a personal account.

REGISTER ON BENEFICIARY SYSTEM This is where you have to prove you are eligible to join GESY. Some people are accepted immediately and others have to provide documents that have to be accepted by HIO in Nicosia before their application is accepted or by the Doctor depending how they choose to register. When you have been accepted you can then apply to be put on a Doctor's List.

SIGN UP TO A PERSONAL DOCTOR this is when a person actually signs onto a Doctor's List. At this stage the Doctor and patient sign the forms and this means the patient now has access to GESY healthcare. At this point of the proceedings the patient can decide if he/she wishes to have access to their medical records. The doctor then produces another form with a verification code which is used in conjunction with a verification code sent by email and once this is completed the patient will have access to their medical records when the system is up and running.

Apologies for any confusion from my original post - I originally registered in January and it was a slightly different system than the current one.

I have moved the squabble to the pit. Continue it there. Let this thread stick to useful info and discussion on GESY.

Lincoln wrote: Wed May 15, 2019 10:38 am So a question now arises. I read that the start date is to be "phased" in up to the end of August. My question is; Can we start to use the GESY Dr's that we are registered with FOC from the 1st of June?
Best to ask your own Dr, I think that it differs from Dr to Dr.
