What's the best way to see a doctor in paphos?
What's the best way to see a doctor in paphos?
I'm a singer in paphos and my throat is playing up. How do i go about seeing a doctor? Do I go to the general hospital or do i have to see a private doctor. I have a European health.th card but not much money! Any advice appreciated,
Thanks chris

Registering through Gesy will take time. Unless you are already registered at the General, that will also taketime. Best and quickest bet is private. Could cost up to €50.

Or, you could go with your EHIC card to the General hospital and ask to see a doctor.. You would have a little wait and it may cost you a few euros.. but you could ask at the reception / booking in desk..

Excellent suggestion. Pharmacists are greatly under-rated in most countries. They are there to take the strain off GP's.

Just see Dr. Vlotoma, ENT, Blue Cross hospital, she won't rip you off and she is one of the best ENT's in Paphos...

EHIC cards are only meant to be used by non residents, I know of a couple In Larnaca who were caught out by the Hospital,

Chris mentioned the EHIC card, and the post does not say if resident here or just for a season

I have needed to see two different Specialist Doctors in the past couple of weeks - saw the first one less than an hour after I had been to my Pesonal Doctor and just made an appointment on Monday to see the second one tomorrow as that is the soonest he was in Paphos again. Each referral is valid for 3 visits @ €6 per visit (if required) within 3 months of the original request.David Brown wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 11:43 pm If you are a permanent resident in Cyprus then register with GESY I would recommend Evangelismos as they are very good and under one roof.
We were there today and saw our doctor and a specialist in one and a half hours.
The specialist is not with GESY so the cost was 50e but no charge for the GP or prescriptions.
Chryssia, I also agree that a pharmacy would be my first place to ask for advice - depending on the problem the Pharmacist will recommend either some over the counter treatments or that you visit a Doctor. It costs approx €30 to see a Private Doctor and any prescriptions would be at private prices, so if you go this route, ask what is the cheapest medicine that would do the job. Hope you soon feel better.
If you are an EHIC card holder where would you go at Paphos General Hospital? It's not an emergency, therefore not to A&E Department so would have thought the Main Reception Desk?
