Form for renewing Driving Licence

Post by kansas »

A friend needs to renew his driving licence next month. He knows he's required to have an eye test - no problem.

The question is about the accompanying form that needs to be completed. Does it have to be completed when you're there for your appointment at either the main Post Office or the Citizen's Advice Centre, or can he pop in and pick it up to complete later?

Also, does anyone know if the form is available on-line.

I thought maybe someone on this site could offer advice that I can pass on

Many thanks

Depends how old he is. If he's just reached 70 then he has to go to the transport department just before the basket roundabout on the Polis road.
If hes turned 70 then he can do it through the citizens information, think the one at the post office is best, but the form is in Greek and the lady at the desk helps you to complete the info. They also need to see current licence. He will also need a medical check, form to be collected when he completes the application form.

I reached 70 in April and had everything done at PO Anavargos

The girl filled up the form for me 'cos it was in Greek.

No need for transport department

It is not just an eye test he needs.. A doctor has to certify that he is fit to drive, and fill in the medical certificate.. He should have a small medical check... But that is up to the doctor..

My doctor was very thorough taking blood pressure etc as well as an eye test.I found the citizens advice at Anavagos Post Office very helpful & it’s much easier than the large office on Butcher Boy.

Thanks Trevhil. He's registered with a GP so understands that he also has to have a check-up.

Two years ago when 70 I had to have a medical and eye test at my then local GP, she filled in the form and stamped it all clear, then we had to go to the Citizens advice centre and they made up our new driving licence and took a mug shot, sorry forget how the cost went down but it is about €30's for the GP and a small cost at the CA centre, you could get this done at the General hospital.
