Easter Mystery

Post by Dominic »

This is a weird rock. Fossilised Easter Egg or something else?

It's very heavy, and from the bottom looks like a fossilised apple. Any ideas?

My first thought was that it is a cannon ball, but you say it's a rock. Where did you find this? In a river bed?

It was lying in the undergrowth in a remote part of countryside between Paphos and Coral Bay. Nowhere near a stream. It was nowhere near any ruins either. To be honest, when I found it, I just thought it looked kind of neat. It stayed in the car for a while before I bothered to take it out and look at it.

That would be what geologists call coprolite then.
Quite valuable and of immense scientific interest:

I would be too excited not knowing how that piece looks inside....................... and going to a professional place where they could cut it into 2, e.g. (marble-cutter).
