New water fountain at the Karalina roundabout
New water fountain at the Karalina roundabout
Taking the daughter to school this morning on TOTK road to Aspire when she mentioned it looks like there is new water fountain upon getting closer and passing the roundabout saw a black saloon car had shot over the roundabout and took out the water mains hence the fountain spout of water , no sign of the driver on the way back council workers arrived to stem the water spout.

Is that the roundabout near the Mall and is that the official name of the roundabout?

No, it's the one at the opposite end of TOTK on the way to Coral Bay.

I thought the roundabout outside the Karlina restaurant was
opposite the entrance to Tomb of Kings site!!

Yes, you are right! I saw Aspire in the OP and incorrectly assumed it was the last roundabout with the school on it!memory man wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 2:36 pm I thought the roundabout outside the Karlina restaurant was

Ah, all clear now. So it is named after the Karlina restaurant near the entrance of the Tombs of the Kings site.LouiseCastricum wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 1:48 pm Is that the roundabout near the Mall and is that the official name of the roundabout?

Re: New water fountain at the Karalina roundabout
Unless the Karlina were to change hands and name, then everybody would be as confused as we were shortly after we arrived upon being told "it's just off the Woolworths roundabout" - but by that time, the shop in question had had to change its name from Woolworths ...

Re: New water fountain at the Karalina roundabout
Thanks, Louise, you are correct.
I was trying to point out that establishments change name over the years and if a permanent location (like a roundabout) is named after the establishment, once that establishment no longer has the same name, the roundabout (or whatever) becomes harder for non-locals to find.

The names are usually only names used by the locals... Like Butcher Boy road.. or Mr Chicken street

Just to clarify that Heart Attack Hill is the one that runs parallel with Russian Road aka Mr Chicken Street and leads to Kneetrembler Alley ?
Re: New water fountain at the Karalina roundabout
Heart attack hill in my book is uphill from St Georges traffic lights at Chloraka

Maybe one of the local Ex-Pats ought to have a word with Google to change the street names to Anglopaphosnian
IMHO Apostolou Pavlou Avenue aka Λεωφόρος Αποστόλου Παύλου aka St. Paul's Avenue for the incline between the harbour and Kennedy Square merits the title of Coronary Climb when taken into account the heavy vehicle pollution in the area inhaled deeply into the lungs as well just for good measure
