I wonder if it includes "Disabled Parking Spaces" in
Supermarket car parks

I believe it will do Brian. I have seen on posts in the last few weeks where it has been said that the Police have powers to issue tickets on Supermarket car parks..

But they will not have to look far for vehicles parked on the 'Wrong Side' of the road

Saw them in the old Carrefour super market issuing tickets to those parked in disabled spaces a few weeks ago......very entertaining! Lots of shouting and gesticulating......

Hopefully, they will visit the Hospital as well .................... the disabled bays at the front have a gap between them to allow you to get a wheelchair up the ramp but invariably, somebody is parked in the gap stopping you from getting past! And while there, they could also nab all those who are parked on the double yellow lines!

Well this is great news - Hallelijah! Remains to be seen if the appropriate penalties are actually issued, and even more so - if the fines are actually paid!!

One of the most annoying things is when people park facing the wrong way and then when they pull out they do more or less a 3 point turn therefore holding up traffic in both directions. I would like to see them "persecuted" or do I mean prosecuted! either way they are in the wrong and have no consideration for others.

I thought that during Daylight hours that one is allowed to park facing the traffic. It was only during the hours of darkness that you had to park the correct side of the road with the flow.??

I just wish this would happen in the UK.

Disabled bays are abused all the time in supermarket car parks, which invariably means that a disabled driver has to walk a fair distance. If you say anything to the people responsible you just get sworn at.

Excerpt from a document sent to me about 3 years ago:

Parking – Within 10 meters of a junction, within 15 meters of a pedestrian crossing, near traffic lights, on the pavement, on a bus stop or disabled bay – fine €85.

Parking facing other than in the direction of traffic flow. This applies at any time day or night even if it is in a permitted parking place – fine €85.

Thank you Galexinda for that info. I naturally thought that the highway code in Cyprus was the same as UK. I shall now park facing the correct direction :D

I always do ……………… though, trying to negotiate the oncoming traffic and then do a U-turn is getting beyond me! ;)

If you park nose into the kerb then you will not be facing the wrong way, ha ha..

You just have to reverse out into the traffic :-)

They should station themselves in Philippos car park, they would make a fortune ticketing those using the disabled spaces without a badge!

Maybe they will do, because it is certainly in Supermarket car parks where most disabled spaces are to be found
