Re: Urgent pleas to expand Paphos airport
TUI days have always been a nightmare as flights arrive and departure in a short window frame
Rynair has extended its flight schedules in and out of Paphos plus other flights coming from Eastern European countries
When the last renovations were completed at peak times it was struggling but the situation has now escalated in the peak holiday season

Hi
Why dont they utilise the old airport, sitting there empty,if just a couple of major airlines used the old terminals it would take a lot of the stress of the existing airport.

Isn't the old terminal used for cargo these days? There's no doubt that an extension to the existing terminal is needed. The authorities must or maybe should have seen this coming. Cyprus and Paphos have been encouraging more flights from new destinations. New hotels have been built, so now there are considerably more tourists coming...
Re: Urgent pleas to expand Paphos airport
Perhaps there should be a moratorium on new tower and hotel building pendng the completion of a sizeable extension to Paphos Airport? That would put a cat among the greedy pigeons!
Re: Urgent pleas to expand Paphos airport
It’s not the airport that’s the issue its the scheduling of arrivals and departures by airlines.
Take today as an example between 9am and 2pm only 2 flights arrive from the UK, after that between 2pm and 11pm there are 23 UK arrivals most of these crammed into a 2-hour period, and then there are the other 20 plus non uk arrivals too, any airport of this size anywhere will struggle to cope.
Wednesdays Saturday and Sundays are the worst days and always has been, the rest of the week you can fly in and out and the place is virtually deserted.
I use Paphos airport more than most flying every month and often several times in a month and I never have an issue due to the fact I avoid the weekend and Wednesdays, I think it’s a great little airport with spot on service and facilities.

We all know what causes this overcrowding at the airport, but improving things is difficult as all the hotels have change over days on Wed and at the weekend. And the tour agents send their clients out here to the hotels on these days. Its a pity though that these holiday flights can't be staggered so they arrive at intervals instead of so close together...
Re: Urgent pleas to expand Paphos airport
At the airport on Monday evening 8.30 ish and it took us over 25 minutes to get out of the car park as the barriers weren’t working and even the man trying to operating them manually didn’t know what he was doing. It was disgusting and frustrating. Come on Paphos get that airport sorted out.
Re: Urgent pleas to expand Paphos airport
I always presumed that the reason the airlines have their flights arriving so close together is so that they only have to have their staff there during that time and not all day. Also if flights arrive close to each other they can have more than one flight on their buses. It is annoying though.
Re: Urgent pleas to expand Paphos airport
25 minutes to get out? If you think that's bad try some of the U.K. airports,Birmingham especially where we often fly from, terrible traffic and outlandish parking fees ,anyway Paphos airport compared with many is very good,ok it does get busy sometimes and all airports have their problems,at least you probably didn't have a very long journey home,so stop moaning,

Re: Urgent pleas to expand Paphos airport
Agree with all the comments about airlines staggering arrival times on busy days. Needs to be a complete overhaul of routes and arrival times throughout Europe. We flew out of Malta to Manchester last Thursday on a Pand O TUI chartered flight. We were called to the gate over 2 hours before the plane landed and stood, shoulder to shoulder, for those 2 hours in temperatures of 34c with air con that could not cope. Probably 1500 P and O Cruise customers needed transporting back to the UK plus lots of package holiday customers fromJet2and TUI.
Also, why have police checking and stamping passports instead of trained security people. We have arrived when there has only been one policeman checking and stamping UK passports and the queue has been outside.
When we got to Manchester, we waited over an hour and a half from landing for our luggage. They used to aim to get your luggage to you within 30 minutes and there was a timer above the carousal, but not any more. However, there were no queues at passport control.

Re: Urgent pleas to expand Paphos airport
Since the luton multi storey carpark burned down, it is now a nightmare , used it yesterday from larnaca, a fifteen minute walk in the rain to get to the pick up point or wait for a shuttle bus.
