Paphos Coast Path Renovations

Post by Dominic »

We've been getting a lot of people ask us about the coast path between Paphos Castle and the Lighthouse Beach. You may recall it has been closed a while now for renovations. So we went down yesterday with the drone to get a fresh look at how work was progressing. You can see from these shots that they have already achieved a lot, but that there is still a way to go before it re-opens.

Read the article and chat about it below...

I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the old path

I’ll second Beechwood’s remark. Until the Mayors improvements started around the castle area there was nothing wrong with the coastal path to Lighthouse Beach, except that the paved part stopped just short of the actual beach area. We used to walk it quite often. It had originally been paved in 2016, just before 2017, Paphos year as Capital of European Culture. But it was a path for walking and cycling, probably not designed to take vehicles.
It was actually the remains of the seating, some of it a bit eccentric looking and some in bad repair from the onslaughts of weather and salty air which needed replacement.
It will be a pity if this path is set to remain closed for the summer season too.
