No, probably they mean they will be able to take their daughter back to the UK. I assume you have no children of your own, or you wouldn't even have to ask.

You assume wrong. I have a 58 y-o daughter and 2 gr-children in their 30s. What I don't have is faith that many persons will do the correct thing if there is potentially big money on the horizon.

I hope I'm wrong in this case.

Taking everything into consideration, I find this comment distasteful.

What a ridiculous outburst – You are clearly well out of touch with reality, This girl is 19 years old adult by age maybe but little more than a child with no life experience and by now probably wishes she had never heard of Cyprus – Whether she is to blame for the circumstances or is a victim of the circumstances who really knows, She will just want to get home and her parents will want her home as soon as possible and I dare bet that “getting every penny they can out of whomsoever” has not even entered their heads – I would think that by now she will never want anything to do with Cyprus again as long as she lives.

I also hope that the case against her will be dropped and that she will be allowed to go home with her parents. From what I’ve read the police have treated her very badly, People commit much worse misdemeanors here and seem to get away with their actions. The whole affair must have created much adverse publicity for the island and their drive to attract more tourists! If the family decide to sell their story to the British tabloids they make make sone money out of it to defray their expenses.

She was, but I think her parents are permanent residents.

What everyone should remember, before putting their own spin and bias on this, the events that happened in that room, were recorded by many of the people there on their phone cameras, the police had everyone's phone looked at, and they could see, and hear what actually happened.

No sympathy with anyone that lies about being Raped, which might of seen innocent people jailed.

Yes. All this will deter real victims from coming forwards. Too many rapists are walking around unprosecuted. Far too many.

Yes, armchair detectives do more harm than good in cases like this.
