“Reasonable time” for visit

Post by MacManiac »

My wife has had her appointment confirmed for next week at Paphos Hospital to see her consultant. She has been seeing him for eighteen months and - not once - has the appointment been on time. This did not concern us as he gives all his patients the time they need.

However, next week, we shall have to text for permission to visit and therein lies the problem. It takes us fifty minutes to travel there, and fifty minutes to return home. If he is running late we shall be outside the three-hour window (the “reasonable time” as referred to in the SMS message). If we are stopped and checked we do not want to get into trouble with the law. A sensible policeman would, I am sure, accept our reason. But not all policeman are sensible ...

Is there a telephone number we can call to explain the situation? I know this is a belt and braces approach but a €300 fine would rather spoil the outing.

We don´t know yet what the rules will be next week. The current restrictions are limited until 30 April and the new ones are to be announced tomorrow only. Maybe you´ll no longer need a permit to see your doctor. If you should still do I suggest you prepare a not for him to sign and stamp stating your scheduled and the actual time of the visit.

Thanks for that. If no changes take place, we shall do that.

The text authorisation for shopping and exercise changed from 3 hours and now states “completion of movement within reasonable time” are you sure this is not the same for hospital/doctors appointments?

Have the nessesary documents showing you were at a hospital appointment, you will not have any problems,s if you are checked.

Every three weeks I have to go to Limassol General for immunotherapy. So I have approximately an hour and a half travelling there and the same coming back. In between I have to see the specialist which itself can entail an hour and a half wait to get the prescription for the mediction. Then I have to go to the fourth floor to get the medication administered which if I have to wait for a 'seat' in the administering room can take another hour. Soif we set off at 09.00hrs it might be 14.30hrs before we get back. Although it has never yet been tested with the police I think/hope that by showing my appointment card showing my appointment date that will be acceptable.

I am pretty sure that when the Police see that you are going from the Paphos area to Limassol or Nicosia that they will use their discretion..

I agree Trev. Our very very ocassional meetings with those Bobbies in Paphos were always very reasonable . . . . . . And reasoned. 😁
