We were lucky to be able to catch this, apparently the very last time the Royal de Luxe giants will walk the streets again.
I saw some video footage a few months ago and as soon as we found out the dates the event was taking place we booked our rail tickets and hotel accommodation in July for the event this weekend 5th to 7th October around the streets of Liverpool and across the water in the Wirral.
We managed to see 3 of the giants during their walks on Friday and Saturday morning after having arrived on Thursday afternoon. We couldn't stay for the last day as we have no bus service on Sunday from the nearest railway station to the village where we live, so we missed the surprise appearance of the Little Girl Giant.
A few photos of the Little Boy Giant, Xolo the giant dog and the Big Giant:

Late afternoon on Friday, other things were appearing on Castle Street
On Saturday, the Big Giant came from over the Mersey by boat (he's around 33ft tall)
This is his boat

Thanks Max!
It was a fabulous weekend. Liverpool is such a vibrant city and we believe we have found our final place to retire now when the timing is right for us.
It's got great transport links too

Not sure if she was at the Liverpool parade, but my nephew in laws sister headed the procession at New Brighton, she was playing the violin, on a tipper truck full of violins.

Uncle D there were hundreds of people involved in the background of the 3 day event and if, as they say this will be the last public display your relative will have some very good memories to keep forever.
The people you see holding the plastic barrier tape weren't just standing holding the crowd back from the machines as they rolled by - they were all volunteers who walked the route alongside the Giants. Many were retirees which was wonderful to see.
As we came back on the train on Saturday we got talking to two guys opposite us from New Brighton who said the schools took the kids down to the beach on the Friday so they could all see the Big Giant. He started his day laid out on the sand as if he had been washed ashore.
It will be very sad if there isn't another show. We only found out about it by chance of a random click via social media and booked on the offchance. So glad we did!
