Selfridges ----> Cyprus

Post by aphrodite » Sat Feb 25, 2017 4:11 pm

Selfridges offer a £15 secure 'signed for' delivery service to Cyprus.

The online store has some great designer handbags and shoes if you happen to have the odd thousand or two pounds to spare ;)

Following a couple of casual visits to Selfridges over the past year, my view is that you have to be pretty much millionaire status or above to shop there. There's little the man on the Clapham omnibus could afford. I only browse the toiletries and perfumes departments.

Ouch. I looked at their T shirt section. It had never occurred to me that somebody would ever be prepared to pay more than £30 for a T shirt. Let alone £300.

I sense the whole of Selfridges is staked out as concessions. And being a prestige store with lots of cachet in a premium shopping district, only the top, top designer brands feature. After looking at one or two 'nice' items here and there, you very soon get the message the store is completely out of your league, unless of course money is no object. Most everything is priced in hundreds and thousands...very little for €29.99 :lol:

London's Oxford Street Selfridges Department Store was established by Harry Gordon Selfridge in 1909 and is famous around the world. Especially now as its founder and the store are the subject of a successful book and TV period drama. Certain smaller electrical goods retail shops have tried to cash in on the name and reputation of the bigger store by trading under names that at first glance look similar. One is called "Sellfridges" and the other is called "Sell Fridges".

I struggle to understand why anyone would pay more than £10 for a tea shirt - dont get me started on the cost of handbags. Totally ridiculous consumerism, and more money than sense.
