Vehicle documents

Post by memory man » Mon Oct 08, 2018 9:20 am

What documents MUST you carry in your vehicle?

eg. Road tax, Insurance, log book, MOT certificate !

Would photo copies suffice?

I was stopped a couple of weeks ago at Peyia police station

and the officer politely said " I'm just checking your documents sir"

He typed ( probably ) my car reg into his portable machine and
30 secs later said thank you, everything is OK and waved me on.

So, Do I really need to keep docs. in car?

I always keep photocopies of MOT & tax certs in my glove box just in case but I don't think it's a legal requirement!

I too keep photo copies in the car. Better safe than sorry.. But all the details are on their hand held computers now..

Exactly the same thing happened to me about 4/5 years ago down in Paphos.

Is there such a thing as an 'original' tax disc? :D

I was stopped this morning for a document check at Debenhams roundabout.

Exactly the same experience as memory man at the opening of this thread.
