On-line Tax Registration Problem

Post by geoffreys »

I have been trying to register for on-line tax here in Cyprus, "taxisnet".
However their website rejects my registration application "Invalid TIC Number".
This is odd since the TIC I use is the one I was originally allocated back in 2004, and which has appeared every year since on my tax forms
received to be completed manually every year.
To avoid a visit to the tax office (the whole point of all this!) has anyone else on the forum had this problem?
Thanks,
Geoff.

Have you filled in a paper form and sent it or handed it to the tax office ?

They then send you a password to start using taxisnet .

That is what I had to do a few years back , there was no way to just register on line , but things might have changed .

What format is the number you are typing in?
My TIC number is 8 digits followed by a capital letter.
BTW, I haven't tried to log in with it because my tax advisor does it all for me!

Thanks to Mrblobby and surreyboy.
1. Yes you can register on line by filling in form IR66A at https://taxisnet.mof.gov.cy
2. Surreyboy - yes I had it as 9 digit, actually 8 digit + the letter 'O' (I was using 0). Works fine now, many thanks!

Having registered OK for Taxisnet on-line I downloaded the tax return form for 2016.
But how do you submit it on-line and pay the (self-assessed) income tax on-line?
Any help gratefully received.

IR66A does not seem to have a tick box for pensioner category, only employed, self-employed and employer- how did you get round this particular hurdle please, geoffreys?

All my previous years (12) they sent me in the post the annual tax return to complete; they were always for "employed"
although at the top they had typed in "pensioner" along with my TIC No., address, etc.
So I just downloaded from their website the employed version.
But how do you submit it and pay on-line, or do you have to take it in to the tax office?
If so nothing gained by being registered on-line, and I've used my paper and ink to print it out!

You can of course have look at a previous years form to get a feel for what the online form looks like .

Might be useful for people who have not used taxisnet before .

So when the 2016 one becomes available can I:
1. Submit it on-line?
2. Pay the (self-assessed) tax at the same time without waiting for a tax bill?
3. Add attachments?

Thanks,
Geoff.

I was told by the Dherynia tax office to use £1 = €1.1255

I used €1.23 this year. The tax office will never know what exchange rate you use. You do not have to enter the amount in UK pounds, so they will not know the figure you are using the exchange rate with.

Geoffs post was made before he retired . ;)

Other people say the Dherynia tax office told them 1.2155 , so I think Geoff made a "typo" .

I was in the Deryneia Tax office to pay my bill last week. The rate on display boards was 0.8227, so use your calculators on that one.
I used the rate circulating on an email from the Cy Tax Office which was 1.1679 and they accepted it.
