Transitionary Period June 1-31 August

Post by galexinda »

Specialist doctors in outpatient clinics of the state health services (Okypy) will be carrying out as normal appointments scheduled with patients until August 31, the health ministry announced on Wednesday.

During its weekly meeting the cabinet approved a proposal tabled by Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou, who requested that although the first phase of the national health scheme (Gesy) is being launched on June 1, specialist doctors in Okypy outpatient clinics should keep to their present appointment schedule until the end of August so that patients do not require a new referral.

The approved proposal, which was drafted following the agreement of the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO), also includes that scheduled appointments for diagnostic or imaging tests will also be carried out as planned during the same period.

The period between June 1 and the end of August will act as a period of transition into Gesy. During the same period, pharmacies in hospitals and outpatient clinics will remain open, it was announced on Monday,

Following the transitional period, only around 15 pharmacies located in remote areas and in areas where there are no private pharmacies will continue to operate.
