Women Health Info

Post by sueb »

Went to Paphos General today for a smear test.

Great service!

The surprise was that here in Cyprus it is a yearly test.

Check out what the UK service provides below
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cervical-screening/

Cyprus 'wins' on this front for the service they offer.

Thought that I would share with you all.

Need to book an appointment, not main desk but where the heart people are. If that makes sense. Pay your €6.
May take a month or 2 to get the appointment.

Do not do any testing in July and August. As the lab is closed in Nicosia - that was what I was told.posting.php?mode=edit&f=37&p=68646#

On the day of the appointment make your way to Level 4 Turn left coming out the lift then right through some doors. Bottom of corridor turn right 3 rooms I think. Tend to put a A4 sheet up with the names for each room.

The results are available to collect in a month from the same place. If there is an issue they will ring within a week or so.

The Doctor also said that you get tested to 70 and beyond. A surprise to me!

I hope that this is some help Flossie.

Amended direction oops sorry.

A very helpful post, thank you. Have not heard of this service at the hospital as most people go privately.

An annual mammogram is also recommended in Cyprus and this can be done at the hospital. Perhaps someone can write the procedure on this post so the information is kept in one place.

I have looked into having a mammogram at the General.

As yet I have not been able to get an appointment. Have rung more than 8 times without getting through.
I am not due to have one till December 2018

This is what I have found out.

I went to the X-Ray Department. Was given this info as below:-

MAMMOGRAPHY DEPT
Women 50-69 years
Date and times for appointment
Monday 3.00 - 6.00
Friday 3.00- 6.00
Saturday 9.00 -2.00

Not sure if the above times are the time of the clinic or when you have to ring.
Will try again and report back on here.

Please has anyone else got info on this subject?
