Paphos Hospital Orthopaedic Query?

Post by MacManiac »

It has been decided that my wife needs a procedure called “vertebroplasty”, where bone cement is injected into the spine. As the orthopaedic specialist who visits Polis Hospital will not return until September, we had a consultation at Evangelismos Hospital and the specialist there confirmed the diagnosis. However that hospital charges €5000,00, which we can not afford.

Has anyone had this procedure done at Paphos General Hospital, or at any other public hospital? If so, can you advise on the treatment you received and the waiting time until the procedure was available?

Any information greatly received ... the Orthopaedic Department always seems to be incredibly busy.

It is a very busy department and there seems to be utter chaos with the appointment system.
We have been there for 8-30 and still been there at 1pm. Enquiries at the time were met with the reply " You will all be seen by 3 o'clock as that is when we go home" :-(

Go and see Dr George Nikandrou at the Blue Cross Clinic. Discuss it all with him and he is very negotiable and understanding re the costs. He did my total Hip replacement.

However you may have to see a Spinal Specialist who is Dr Michael Spyrou also at Blue Cross.Good luck whatever the outcome. :D
