Warning 'Messenger' hackers

My wife and several friends have received what looks like genuine contacts on 'messenger', they are religious posting on behalf of you the sender, only answer Google will give is log out and get a new password, that we did, seems OK now.

I have received a couple of ‘warnings’ not to contact certain people on Messenger but they are hoaxes...

Yes hoaxes but they do go to your contacts, and I guess get attached to there Messenger system, changing your password as Google suggested seems to be the way to clear theses stupid people out of their clutches, just one thing though how to they get your passwords? maybe Messenger is not being moderated properly?
