Google Chrome and Bing

Post by Firefly »

I have been advised to try Chrome as my web browser.

I have downloaded Chrome onto my laptop ( Windows 10 ), but when I click the Chrome icon, Bing comes up, what have I done wrong, does anyone know please, and what do I do to get rid of Bing, I don't like it at all.

Thanks
Jackie

Confused dot com :)

Chrome is an internet browser like Edge, Firefox etc

Bing is a search engine like google, duckduckgo etc

If you are clicking on the Chrome icon maybe something has changed it's default search engine to Bing ...

Does this help ..

Thank you for your reply.

I was aware that they are all search engines, my problem is that although my computer is telling me that I have downloaded Chrome, I cannot open Chrome, when I click on the Chrome icon, it only brings up Bing, therefore I am unable to perform the procedure in your link.

I have also gone into my settings, which tell me that as I expected, my default browser is now Chrome, what else I can do I know not.

And/or, you may need to change your homepage ....

Top right three dots
Settings
scroll down to the Appearance section
Make sure that 'show home button' is turned on
Then select www.google.co.uk in the box below 'new tab page'
