Scan Documents to Windows 10

Since I bought my new laptop I have not needed to scan a document into it until today. I didn't realise that I had to download a scan app, so I 'Googled' it. There are so many free apps, that I'm unsure which to download. Are they all safe, and is one better and simpler to use than another ?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks, Jackie

Depends on what you mean by 'scan'. If you mean simply make a copy, then your scanner will have all the software you need. If you want to convert a scanned image to a readable/editable/writable file, then I strongly recommend AABBY FineReader (free).

Thank you Devil.
I have been asked to send a copy of receipt of posting to someone. I don't know how to scan it into my laptop so that I can send it as an attachment. On my old Windows 7 laptop it was simple, but on Windows 10, I'm struggling.

What is the make/model of the printer?
Try this - in your search box, type "devices and printers"
Find your printer and double click on it and ... *hopefully* you should find an option to scan from there .....
Good luck

Take a photo of the receipt with your phone and then send it off as an attachment in an email...

Having noticed a recent Win 10 upgrade my Scanner would not now put the scanned files onto my desktop, so I downloaded this application to my PC works well and easy to use..
