My wife is in a hospice at present and can only receive wifi for 10 seconds on her IPAD, however it is available in other rooms. I have been to Computer SOS to see about a piece of kit to boost the wifi signal, but unfortunately their boosters required to be close to a modem etc. I haven't got time to go looking around shops for something that may not exist, but I have got time to go somewhere and buy something.
Could anyone please help, time is not on her side.
Thank You.
Alan
Internet signal boost
Re: Internet signal boost
You can get boosters that don't need to be close to a modem. The one I have I just plug into a power socket and it picks up the signal and rebroadcasts it. If I didn't get it in Computer SOS I would have bought it in Public. Cost about 20 - 30 euros.

The one I got is by a company called 7iNova. Part number 7W310A.
Public do a different one, so I must have got mine from Computer SOS.

I got basically the same reply from Public as Brian at Computer SOS.
The booster boost the signal at source, ie router but does bot pluck the signal out of the air.
I am now going to try the Dongle/laptop route.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Internet signal boost
Could you perhaps get a mobile internet router (Mi-Fi)?

I can't see a similar one of CYTA only USB sticks which I'm fairly sure don't fit in an iPad

Re: Internet signal boost
Wi Fi extenders do pluck the single out of the air and boost it .
The one I use is the Huawei WS320 , my iPad was unusable in my bed room , but when I plugged it in a power point , the signal came up to 3 bars , and I could surf the night away .
I am surprised SOS did not offer to loan you one before purchase ?
I hope you get sorted soon .

Re: Internet signal boost
The kind of unit I posted a link to doesn't need to be connected to the router. I have mine plugged into a completely different room.
Here's an install guide:
