Post by Dominic »

It's time for another guest blog from Max. He's been out visiting some old churches and has uncovered some gruesome scenes...

Very interesting - thank you for sharing the background to the scenes on the frescos. And well done in getting so much detail captured on your photographs out of the dark interior of this old church.

Thank you for your compliments Andreas. After many photos I produced in dark churches recently I discovered that when I have to use the flash I must also change the setting into Shutter priority not lower than 1/80sec, better higher. Also ISO 80 helps a lot...

It's not unusual for travellers to Cyprus, as Cyprus was very important in the middle-ages. The Cypriot King was often the King of the Christian Holy Land. The templars and other holy orders also used Cyprus as a staging post on the journey to Palestine. Perhaps tales came from their journeys through the then Byzantine lands.
