Successful trip to find more Baryt minerals...
I thought in this heat it will be cooler in the mountains. So I went for a trip towards Tripylos mountains to a place I found nice minerals more than 25 years ago..
But what a mistake as I arrived midday and the sun was shining vertical through the trees with temperature well above 31c in the shade.
I was already thinking that it I should better have a pic-nic in the shade when I spotted that nice piece
and quickly I forgot that it was soo hot and climbed up a steep hill with promising huge stones, and there it was: a beautiful large piece of Barite.
As I had no bag with me I had to go back to the car in order to get a transport bag
returning back to the same place there was more to collect
as these specimens are very fragile, always very careful, to hold on large boulders was not possible as they were dark colour and extreme hot..
now I realized that I had to stop and come another day back as I was sweating like a pig in my long trousers and top, but on the way back...
.... I stopped again to crash a rather large stone, but inside what a surprise... (I think it is also barite) snow-white, but it broke on the transport...

Amazing barite Max!! All specimens are barite (you can easily tell by the specific weight of the stones; it should be unusually large for thir size). You are so lucky having the Paphos forest, it is so rich in minerals!
I was waiting for soooo long for your post, and here it is !! Now i want to do a post too, as i found beautiful quartz crystals in Lythrodontas area, i ll be posting them today!
Glad to see you back!

I am posting every few days or so George, but very different topics, as there are not too many members interested in minerals........ . But there is Andreas (Lofos-5), Dominic and some others more than interested in the rich Geology we have here on our doorsteps....

I really did enjoy reading about your day Max, I do love the way you sort of make it into a story, and your pictures of all of your treasures are amazing.
