No different info really Harry.. I have NEVER seen where Cyprus officials have said after 5 years you MUST have a MEU3

The official government site says that either an MEU1 or MEU3 are fine, because after Brexit , neither will be valid. We will be issued free of charge, with a new document.

Exactly. That’s why I got my MEU3. Hopefully it will make conversion to the MEU 2A easier in due course if we need to...
But a residence permit is exactly that the other, MEU1 is a registration with Immigration that you are living there... at that time.

Harry I feel your comments are not a good idea, nobody can say certainly not the dept of Immigration how expats will be treated after the UK leaving the EU, and for the sake of a few euros I feel it prudent to take an hour out of your day to get a MEU3

While obtaining your MEU3 is not essential, I agree with Jim above, it is prudent, particularly if you own property over here.
