Amazon at the Main Paphos Post Office?

Post by Dominic »

Is it my imagination, or are Amazon installing one of their collection points outside the main Post Office in Paphos? I mean the one up near the hospital.

As we drove past the other day, we couldn't help but notice what looked like an Amazon Collection Point. It would be great if that is the case, as they work really well. It means you can collect your package at whatever time you like.

I’ve seen them and yes they’re exactly like the ones in UK. Trev when your parcel is ready Amazon send a code, you tap it into keypad , or scan barcode and locker opens.

We have an Amazon locker in the entrance of our local Morrisons store.
It's an excellent facility for click and collect orders. We love it!

I thought it looks like modern PO Boxes w/o the need for a key when we drove by the last few weeks. But never having seen Amazon collection point I think this might have been wrong ...

Ah! Just realised what this is all about! Saw one of these in the Premier Inn we stayed in last year in Bristol. Good idea for Paphos methinks. I may use it if I was ordering from Amazon!

Do not think leaving the EU will have any affect on Amazon orders, you may have to pay customs, but this has not been confirmed, remembering those of us lucky enough to live here will still be in the EU, the £ looks very vulnerable down again yesterday this is more of a concern than Amazon I feel...

At the moment, it doesn't look like "if" at all... Seems like Boris is intent on a no deal.
He doesn't care about the cost of the exchange rate or paying tax on stuff he buys from Amazon.
He's loaded - whereas the majority of us will end up with less money in our pockets....

Exchange rate has taken a drop again: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-49162356

It will only effect holidays to Cyprus and the UK cost of living as prices will rise, as the fall of the £ the real problem for us expats is UK pensions, they will only buy what you can exchange the pounds to euros of course, this is the real worry, Lloyd well aware the UK will leave the EU unless there is a General election and Bonking Boris gets the chop ;), wishful thinking on my part, I remember several years ago on CL a few members said the £ would not be devalued by the UK leaving, I was shouted down, where are they now? being very quiet.

My phone app is currently showing €1.09 to the GBP this afternoon - earlier this morning it was €1.092 so another small blip by the looks of it. May app updates twice daily.
We were talking to the lady in our post office here in UK a couple of hours ago and she said although they get the 2 updates they don't change it in the afternoon. Says she dreads people coming in to change sterling to euro at the moment...

Back on the subject of the Amazon click and collect lockers - did anyone find out if it's actually happening?
