I think the problem is Germany put restrictions on where these tanks could be sent, and Cyprus was one of these places.

Some years ago we were travelling from the crossing by the pedestrian route at Ledra Palace one time and took a taxi through the mountain pass road to Kyrenia when a tank on a low loader toppled off, landing on a car and crushing the occupants inside it.
The road was still closed off when we returned at the end of the day and we were detoured around it.

They're big buggers when you're up close to them.

The only other media articles I have found on a quick search, which happen to be Turkish, refer to the Greek Reporter and a Greek website To Vima

Once again the Govt here is playing with fire! There is no way that S Cyprus can take on Turkey with its crack forces. People here tend to forget that the oil belongs to both the Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Though it is wrong if Turkey is sending these weapons to Cyprus. Its probably an attempt at sabre-rattling.
If only the Republic would realise that by co operation with its northern neighbour that much could be gained for the good of everyone who lives here....

But old prejudices including hate die hard.

You really sound like a spokesman for Turkey, fact the Turkish Cypriots declared a breakaway pseudo state, recognised only By their masters Turkey, they can't be a part of Cyprus only when it suits them, the Republic has stated many time times that when Cyprus is reunified all Cypriots will share the wealth that the gas brings, as for your laughable term of Turkish crack troops, are these the same crack troops that the rag bag Kurds have been picking off for years? Turkey can bring hundreds of tanks over, its French and USA companys that are drilling for the gas, if the Turks fancy having a Pop at them, well the best of luck to them...The Turkish dictator is in trouble back home the country is on its knees economically, so what do dictators do when things arnt going well, yep a bit of jingoism .... one other thing you convieninatly fail to mention is cooperation is a two way thing.....and there's no country called S Cyprus, the term is only used by Turkey and her apologists.

Well he's got a point. It's quite insulting to call it the South Cyprus Republic, as well you must know.
