Just watched an item BBC news re abandoned fishing nets and the problems they cause for sea life. Absolutely appalling, they can weigh hundreds of tonnes and trap dozens of species of sea life. Several volunteer groups from the UK, possibly other countries, going out to cut these nets free and bring them back to land to be disposed of. This after rescuing many species of sea life trapped in them.
Please, anyone who has friends and/or families going on the sea to fish encourage them to always, always bring their nets back on to land to dispose of them. Seeing sea life trapped in these nets is just heartbreaking.
