We visited Nicosia over the weekend. We filmed this walk down Ledra Street, to the crossing. Hopefully, one day we will be able to carry on without needing a passport...
Luckily, we returned to Polemi before the tornado hit, so only had to put up with some thunder.

Re: Ledra Street
Thanks for that. Been there several times, including before the border was opened. Remember taking pics and being scared the UN troops would arrest me! So much easier and pleasant now.
Re: Ledra Street
It is very strange that some of us can open and see the video, but others can't ?? I am on a laptop with Google Chrome and Windows 10.

Re: Ledra Street
I recall going through the crossing in the early 90s on foot - we had to pay Cy£1 per person and a small slip of paper was inserted into our passport on the Cyprus side of no man's land. We had to go up steps to an office before crossing through and given strict instructions we were not allowed to buy anything to bring back with us, as well as having to be back before it went dark - this was in the middle of November so it was going dark not long after 5pm and we had travelled from Larnaca to Nicosia via the hard shoulder of the highway for the majority of the journey.
Coming back later that afternoon, we were so pleased to see lights on the aqueduct as we made our way towards the fire station on the edge of Larnaca. A long day and very chilly on those mopeds - we bought gloves and a balaclava each but shhhh, we didn't tell the guy on the checkpoint as we came back for him to take the slip out of our passport
That same holiday, we also took those mopeds to Ayia Napa for the day.
Good times!
