Enquiring on behalf of a friend who will be 76 this year. On his 70th birthday his licence was renewed at the Road Transport Dept, following an eye test at the General Hospital. On his 73rd birthday his licence was renewed at the Citizens Advice offices, following an eye test which was done privately.
Will he be able to renew his licence at the Citizens Advice offices on his 76th birthday? He has received conflicting advice, some are saying you have to go back to the Road Transport Dept, and others are saying go to the Citizens Advice.
Any helpful experience would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

No problem at the Citizens Advice Offices. It should be done maximum 4 weeks before the exp. date mentioned on his licence.

Re: Renewing Driving Licence at 76
Myself and my wife have both just renewed our licence at citizens advice without any problem. Got form signed by doctor in Mandria and photo is taken at the citizens advice. Much easier than first time I renewed at transport office. A very good easy system.
Cheers Norman.

With me they used the same picture as was in the system. They did not take a new one.

Thank you Louise , whatever happens it’s no problem . I’ll just tell the wife to comb her hair just in case (as it’s her that will be renewing soon ).
