Family of seriously ill British man launch bid to bring him home from Paphos
The family of a British man who is hospitalised in Paphos, suffering with a subdural haematoma, are trying to raise money to fund an air ambulance to transfer him to the UK.
Paul Elleray, 62, originally from Somerset, moved to Cyprus in 2015. He was diagnosed with the condition on May 16, 2019.
His daughters have started a GoFundMe page to cover the costs of the transfer.

Sad story, and all too common, where people haven't the finances for the worst case
Re: Family of seriously ill British man launch bid to bring him home from Paphos
Out of interest, exactly what is the treatment that he will get in the UK that is not available in Cyprus?

Nothing to do with EHIC. He had insurance, it just wasn't sufficient to cover repatriation.

Yes josef k,our family have now been in Cyprus for fifteen years and have had medical treatments for all sorts of things, and feel we where seen to better than the NHS in the UK.....and CERTAINLY quicker.

It sounds like he may never recover fully and his family want him to be at home with them - not unnaturally - however, his costs of repatriation will be high and no guarantee that the NHS will provide the additional medical capability. Very sad and I have seen many similar fundme types of pleads over the past few years.
I would imagine normal health cover for a 'resident' in Cyprus wouldn't cover 'repatriation' to another country.
