Dr Sangaragi (maybe spelt wrongly), seems to be the most popular doctor at the General. He is opposite Dr Nicos' and Dr Maxim's surgery. Sangaragi is very thorough and leaves nothing to chance. The shortest consultation I've had with him has been 20 minutes,

Update..

The wife said only two GPs were available at the General this morning, the waiting queues were huge with long waiting periods, no matter what is going to happen with this new GESY or NHS this is unexceptable in Paphos only General hospital, it is no fun being ill and with very little help for those who cannot afford private health cover things must improve!!

Morning all.

We can all guess Lloyd but you have to live with what is happening now in real time, I certainly hope health cover improves but in the back of my mind I have my doubts, they cannot just pluck GPs out of the air, there is I feel a real shortage with many just going over to the private sector, I fear visiting GPs will not improve for some time, as for GESY well who really knows?

Yes you are correct , Flossie .

Fees for NHS beneficiaries:
GP visits and in-hospital care will be free of charge.
Up to €6 per single visit to a specialised doctor.
€10 per visit to other healthcare professionals (i.e. physiotherapists).
€10 per visit to the Emergency Department (security officers, active reserve army soldiers are excluded).
€6 per appointment with a nurse.
€10 per diagnostic examination.
€1 per package of medicine.
€1 per lab examination (with a limit of €10, i.e. if a doctor asks for 12 examinations, the patient can only pay up to €10).

I have been to the general this morning about 11.15. It was nearly empty! Only Tsagarides had people waiting! Dr Tania is on holiday. I was seeing Dr Maria and I didn't wait long, about 15 mins, then a bit longer at the pharmacy, with the usual queue! Dr Maria reminded me to register. Dr Maxim is my favourite, I have seen him since he first arrived. I will try and register today, but she doesn't know what is happening or when! If the providers don't know, then how are we supposed to know?

I've always used the GP's at the General but since Dr Nicos left, I decided to chose a doctor outside of the General for my GESY registration. I chose a recommended Dr. during the GESY registration today. An email said I would have to wait for confirmation by 1st May but was pleased to get an email this eve confirming acceptance. We now have to make an appointment to go to the doctors office to show our proof of identification to complete the process.

Unfortunately Lloyd many of us have to do this. It will change we hope with this new system GESY, on this we have just received my registration forms online from our GP of choice, we have to fill in and take to the GP on the 2nd of May to obtain our club status ;o)

Never say never Lloyd accidents can happen to us all, you would usually end up at the General and it's better facilities such as xrays scans etc, and the rest, long term care would be horrendously expensive in the Private sector, long term conditions such as Diabetes again many insurers will not touch you, and remembering age, all very well if you have very deep pockets, many of us haven't.

Good health all the same. :)

I wonder if next year when phase 2 comes in , will we be able to stay in private hospitals ?

The second and final phase of the GHS (starting on 1st June 2020) includes the following healthcare services:
1. Inpatient healthcare services
2. Accident and Emergency Departments, Ambulances
3. Nurses, Midwifes and Allied Health Professionals
4. Preventative Dental Care

The current list of Dr’s who have signed up to Gesy is 27. If each of these is permitted to have 2,500 on their list then to date 67,500 people in the Pafos region will be covered. I noticed that Dr Tania & Tsagarides are going to use the Gen Hosp. as their consulting rooms. I’m guessing that if you do not choose a PD then getting to see a Dr without an appointment will be extremely difficult. Waste no time & pop along to your preferred doc & get on their list now 😁

It really is important that when you register with GP, make sure that you have proof of S1 as the yellow slip MEU1 is not proof. If you have the white medical card in the top right-hand corner you will see e121 that is proof o S1.

I'm not sure if this link will work to the list of Pafos Doctors who have signed up for GESY (now 33 to date)

https://portal.gesy.org.cy/beneficiarie ... -providers

IT DOES WORK BUT ONLY AFTER ENROLLMENT - Click on Healthcare Providers on LH side
