The last RAF Tornado jets, which are being decommissioned at the end of March after 40 years in service have left the British base at Akrotiri and returned home to the UK for the last time. The eight Tornadoes, the last three of which left Cyprus on Tuesday evening, flew back to RAF Marham in Norfolk, the UK's Press Association reported....

The news that Tornados are being retired makes me feel really old, I was in the TAG when they entered service, and stationed at Akrotiri when the first Tornado squadron came in for an armament practise camp, time goes on I suppose, and I have actually been out of the service longer than I was in! Hope all the Tornado air and groundless get 're allocated ok.

I remember making an Airfix 1:72 model for my son when the only transfers available were for the Luftwaffe version. His Spitfire model lasted longer!
