Spotted this spider in the garden yesterday , have looked on google but can't find it . does anyone know ?

It looks to me that it is the European garden spider ( Araneus diadematus)

Hope it is not as big as it seems in the picture, you could name it "scary"

In my experience these spiders hardly move, once they find a spot they like they're there for weeks, just moving at night to spin their web. Which is fine with me, they're welcome in my garden.

That said, I'm sure today's rain would have made it go and find somewhere dry!
