Post by memory man »

CYTA came back on again about 10 minutes ago.
It's been off with me since about 9.30 am.

Chatted to an engineer on the phone. He said it was Island wide. So went for a walk, had a coffee in Choccos. By the time I got back home it was all up and running. :D

Around 9:30am my internet went down, I ran a diagnostics check stated DNS server problem, I restarted the computer and everything was fine, Internet off around 20mins, I am not with Cyta

I am very surprised the whole thing collapsed though, that would indicate a single point of failure...which a company like Cyta would almost certainly plan against.
Can't remember the last time Cyta went down, maybe a few years ago, Cyta in my opinion are far and above the best service on island, problem solving and advice are second to none, when you ring them.

How odd, I had two very minor, very short freezing episodes about an hour or so ago, apart from that puter, router, iPad and tv all fine.

Most of Pafos and beyond lost the Internet this morning, so bad the service call center at Cyta closed down, they would not accept phone calls, all is well now but this must have been a very serious problem.

Blobs I have a similar setup but both were off.

And WHL I can remember as it was only last Friday, no CYTA internet all afternoon.

Mr Blooby most likely you have a different DNS address on the piggyback modem to those which failed for Cyta.

Thanks bromerzz , I use my second modem for a vpn .

It’s just hard to get my head round the fact that we get internet down the phone line . How can one router work and other not on the same line ?

I have tried reading about DNS , but it is beyond me .
