Marella Cruises sailing from Cyprus in 2019 and 20.

Post by Anarita John »

Just read this on Steve's Eastern Forum. Good news for those who have enjoyed cruising from Limassol in the past. We have been on the Dream and is very similar to the Spirit.

Just hope that you can book with no flights on the Tui website, like you could a few years ago.

Looking at the ships, they look like they have seen better days?

It's great news. Loved the old Thompson Spirit, went twice on it. Incidentally we went on the Celebration around the Canary Islands approx. three years ago. Yes, it's an older ship but we prefer smaller ships rather than the new 5,000 passenger mega cruisers. The atmosphere and staff on the Celebration were great, in fact we enjoyed it more than the Holland America ship we went on earlier this year.

We loved going on the Spirit from Limassol. Our first cruise was on the Majesty, thanks to the old CL site, where a poster posted that the price of the Eastern Med cruise had come down to 250 GBP. This was on the Wednesday, but by Friday the price had dropped to 190 GBP. Never been on a cruise before, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We did the overnight trip to Jerusalem.

After one cruise we were hooked. We then went on the Spirit four times from Limassol, all at bargain prices, never paying more than 250 GBP. Then we did a couple of cruises on Fred Olsen from the UK and a P and O Med cruise. We have not been on any of the huge ships but have thoroughly enjoyed both Thomson and Fred Olsen cruises, on smaller ships. We have also spent a fortnight on the Dream, sailing the Greek Islands and Adriatic.

Hudswell wrote: Wed Oct 24, 2018 2:45 pm It is brilliant news, both the Dream and the Celebration ( the sister ship to the Spirit which is currently on its final cruise before Keving the fleet 🙁). I spoke to a TUI executive on a cruise a couple of years no he said then that they intended to rest Cyprus for a couple of year, and yes on the website you can book "cruise only" holidays again.
I found some mention of cruise only , but not from Cyprus , am I looking in the wrong place ?
